Commodore's Comments for May

The first month of sailing activities has come to a close and we have seen everything; calm days, moderate winds, and heavy winds blowing 15 to 20 mph with higher gusts and seas breaking on the beach (boy, am I glad I’m on shore!!). This year it’s important to check your e-mail at the end of the week. Even though we sail at two ponds and keep to our race schedule, there could be a change. I usually try and put an e-mail out on Thursday saying what boat we are sailing and where. I know most of us have senior moments, but the race schedule is always in black on white on your computer.
Turnouts have been fair, with at least six skippers turning up at the Lake or Pond. It’s still early, and as summer approaches we hope that our turnouts will improve.
Our race schedule for May is here. Please note that May 3rd we are hosting our Commodore/Memorial Invitational Regatta. If you have not signed up yet please let me know ASAP. No sign ups at the Lake.
Also, May 17th there are two activities going on. The LSMSC will be sailing 36’s at our Babylon Pond. This will allow any skippers that want to attend the Eisenhower Invitational to sign up and go. So long as we have three boats at Babylon racing that day, we will count the 36’s as a race day. The score sheets must be turned in to me for recording purposes.
