First Race of the Season: 36/600's
Posted April 05, 2008 - Filed in: Race Results
The weathermen were all wrong. The predictions were
for cloudy skies and 5 to 9 mph winds. What we got
was clearing skies and winds that continued to
increase as the day progressed (18-20 mph).
Six skippers arrived at Lake Ronkonkoma, two had difficulties and dropped out. Four skippers started the racing season and as the day progressed and the seas got worse and only two skippers were in the last race. By that time white caps were on the lake and rollers were coming towards shore. All in all it was a fun day, so long as I didn't have to be on the boat! Isn't it great to control the boat from shore?!
